Train is a movin'

Sorry for the lack of posts! Lots going on outside of work unfortunately.

There is so much activity since last week on uniting the businesses, it is unbelievable. Tons of team integration going on in addition to lots of operations/systems conjoining. We're moving forward quickly! I'll try to keep y'all abreast of the progress.

There's been great some follow on coverage of the deal signing last week. DBTA had a nice spot on their May 13th edition of the 5 Minute Briefing - Data Integration newsletter. Further, they occupied their 'Our View' space with some corroborating commentary on the blurring lines between pure-play software developers and database development:

Database Development and Application Development

Embarcadero Technologies’ acquisition of CodeGear and the announcement of db4o’s support of LINQ are more evidence of the blurring of the lines of application development and database development. Increasingly, application developers want and need better insight and control of the data management aspects of their applications. On the flip side, database administrators are faced with responsibility of ensuring application performance. Common toolsets and better communication can only help both communities achieve their objectives. To follow trends in the industry, keep reading 5 Minute Briefing and subscribe to Database Trends and Applications magazine here.

More from the trenches in the coming days but all the teams have some important upcoming releases to execute on so we're maintaining focus while we push deeper to finalize the acquisition.

Thanks for reading,
Greg
